Canadian security technologies was well represented at the second annual U.S. Maritime Security Conference and Expo held in New York in October 2003. Fast becoming one of the major trade shows in its sector, this event showcased more than 200 exhibitors from all over the world, including five Canadian companies seeking new business opportunities in the U.S. There was an abundance of Canadian savoir-faire on display at this major international trade show, and Transport Minister David Collenette was there to promote Canadian capabilities in this sector. Minister Collenette met with the representatives of Canadian Submarine Technologies, a British Columbia (B.C.) company that designs and builds small submarines for security applications. The company’s two prototype submersibles, on display for the first time at the show, were a big hit with visitors and attendees.
